All hands on deck in Canberra for #CouncilFest2017

Councillors of the National Rural Health Alliance will gather in Canberra from 10—12 September 2017 for the organisation’s annual CouncilFest. A highlight of this year’s event will include an inaugural breakfast, hosted by the Parliamentary Friends of Rural and Remote Health.

Call for abstracts: 6th Rural and Remote Health Scientific Symposium

The call for abstracts is open for presentations to the 6th Rural and Remote Health Scientific Symposium, to be held in Canberra 11-12 April 2018. Expressions of interest are sought from researchers whose work can contribute to improved health and wellbeing for the 7 million people living in regional, rural and remote Australia.
The call for abstracts closes on 30 September 2017.

Rural and remote nursing and midwifery grants

As part of its ongoing commitment to high-quality health services in rural and remote Australia, the Country Women’s Association of Australia, in association with the National Rural Health Alliance and CRANAplus, is offering four scholarships (valued up to $5,000 each) for rural and remote nursing and midwifery programs and courses in 2017-18.
Applications open on 1 September 2017 at 9am AEST.

August edition of AJRH

The August edition of the Australian Journal of Rural Health (AJRH) is now available online. This edition features original research on methamphetamine use in rural Australia; registrar attributes for Australian rural general practice training; and novel approaches to addressing engagement, anger and aggression in rural adolescent males.
